  • Light

Juniper bonsai trees prefer bright, indirect sunlight and need at least 4–6 hours of light each day. Outdoors, they do best in partial to full sun. Indoors, place near a bright window, ideally facing south or west.

    Watering

Keep the soil slightly moist but never soggy. Check the top inch of soil daily—if it feels dry, water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom of the pot. Avoid letting the tree sit in standing water. Junipers prefer to dry slightly between waterings.

    Humidity and Airflow

Junipers appreciate fresh air and moderate humidity. Mist the foliage occasionally, especially indoors or in dry conditions, and provide good airflow around the plant.

    Temperature

Junipers thrive in cool to moderate temperatures, between 40°F and 75°F. They enjoy being outdoors for most of the year. If kept indoors, avoid placing near heat vents or drafts.

    Pruning and Maintenance

Trim new growth regularly to maintain the tree’s shape, but never remove all green foliage at once. Use clean, sharp shears for pruning and shape gradually over time.

    Fertilizing

Feed once a month during spring and summer with a balanced bonsai or all-purpose fertilizer. Do not fertilize during the winter months.

    Repotting

Repot every two to three years in early spring using a well-draining bonsai soil mix. This helps refresh nutrients and allows for gentle root trimming if needed.
