  • Light

Bunny Ear Cactus thrives in bright, direct sunlight. Place it near a sunny south- or west-facing window or outdoors in full sun during warm months. Insufficient light can cause slow growth and pale pads.

    Watering

Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom of the pot, then empty any excess water. During winter, water sparingly—only when the soil is completely dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

    Temperature and Humidity

This cactus prefers warm, dry conditions and grows best in temperatures between 70°F and 100°F during the day and no lower than 50°F at night. Protect from frost and avoid humid areas.

    Soil and Potting

Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix. Make sure the pot has drainage holes. Repot every 2–3 years in spring to refresh the soil and provide room for growth.

    Fertilizing

Feed monthly during spring and summer with a diluted cactus fertilizer. Do not fertilize in fall or winter when the plant is dormant.

    Pruning and Maintenance

Handle with care—Bunny Ear Cactus pads are covered with tiny glochids (fine spines) that can irritate skin. Remove any damaged or dried pads using tongs or gloves.
